ABOUT SENATOR STEVE AMICK
Steve Amick was first elected to
the Delaware General Assembly in 1986 as a member of the State
House of Representatives from the 25th
Representative District. He was
re-elected in 1988, 1990, and 1992 by increasing margins. In 1994 he was elected to the State Senate
from the 10th District. Steve
has since been twice re-elected. He is currently a member of the Joint Finance
Committee; the legislature’s most powerful, annually reviewing the State’s
budget. In 1996, after only 2 years in the Senate, Steve's colleagues selected
him as Minority Whip. Two years later
they elected him to Minority Leader, one of the top leadership positions in the
General Assembly. As a member of the
General Assembly Steve has worked with four Governors, Republicans and
Democrats alike to improve the quality of life for Delawareans in a wide
variety of ways. He has gained a
reputation as a careful, thoughtful, articulate legislator more concerned with
